What is live-in care?

Live-in care is when one of our vetted carers lives in your home. This can be full-time or respite care that covers your night off or a holiday. Abicare work with you to agree on your goals, and your care plan, which might include:

  • Personal care: bathing, dressing, toileting and supervision of medicine
  • Light housework: laundry, cooking, and shopping.
  • Accompanying you on trips.
  • Companionship.

Are Live in Care and 24 hour care the same?

A Live-in Carer can not work constantly 24 hours a day, they do need breaks and sleep but they are in close proximity throughout the day and night. If you require full time, round the clock care for more advanced needs, you will need 24 hours care. 24 hour care is usually done by 2 or more carers taking shifts throughout the day and night. Some example of those who need 24 hour care could be:

  • Alzehiemers
  • Advanced Dementia
  • Mental Disability
  • Physical Disability
  • Palliative Care

Who will be my carer?

We know the idea of a carer living in your house might take getting used to, which is why we are very selective about our live-in carers. Each carer is friendly, compassionate and highly trained. All our staff are handpicked to suit both your care needs and your personality.

If you need 24-hour care, we train at least two carers to know how you like your tasks done. This gives you a small team of well-rested carers who understand your needs.

Carefully chosen carers who pass all our checks

Before we train each carer, we make sure they have the right qualifications and an up-to-date DBS, following these simple steps: interview, DBS background check, eligibility check and experience check.

When family or friends need to take a break, our carers can provide support. Live-in respite and holiday carers offer the very same standards of care you are used to while the regular caregiver is away. Family and friends can enjoy some time out, knowing their loved one is being cared for, and if a bit of respite means the whole family going away, we can come along too. By taking care of your loved one, we take care of you.

Let us know your needs so we can recommend a holiday or respite care plan for you.

Social contact is essential to our health and wellbeing. With a live-in companionship service, your carer spends one-on-one time with you, as often as you want. Your carer can fit in with your interests and take part in activities of your choice. Alternatively, a carer can just have an interesting conversation about the things that matter to you most.

Talk to us today to find out what types of companionship care could help you.
