Carers Week 2021

This week it’s Carers Week, which is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring and the challenges that unpaid carers face. Carers Week is also an opportunity to recognise the contribution that carers make to families, friends and communities throughout the UK.

Many unpaid carers don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities, and so they do not feel that they identify as carers. Therefore, it is vital that carers have access to the right support.

This year’s campaign theme is Make Caring Visible and Valued – Carers in the UK have faced many additional challenges due to Covid-19, including taking on additional caring responsibilities, which is why it’s so important that they are recognised for the difficulties they are experiencing, they are provided with as much information and support as possible, and that they feel valued.

Many unpaid carers often need some additional support, even if it’s so they can have an hour or so to themselves, which is where Abicare can help.

We provide a respite care service that offers the very same standards of care that your loved one is used to receiving. If you are caring for a loved one, you can rest assured that our trained carers will be on hand to provide the support that is required, allowing you to enjoy some free time with your friends and family. Our carers are fully trained to look after clients with a variety of care needs, ranging from mild to complex care.

We provide two types of respite care services:

  • Home Care visits – One of our trained carers will perform the tasks that you usually do, so that you can have a couple of hours to yourself, as well as providing companionship and reassurance for your loved one.
  • Live-in Care – Our Live-in carers are on hand to cover extended breaks and holidays, and provide companionship. Having a Live-in carer allows you to have a significant amount of time to yourself, such as going away for a few days or spending a good amount of time with friends and loved ones. Using a Live-in care service is often more cost effective than a care home, and allows your loved one to stay in the comfort of their own home, in familiar surroundings.

We understand how hard it can be caring for a loved one, which is why we want to help alleviate the pressure you may feel under – all unpaid carers should be valued and recognised for what they do. Should you need any additional support, Abicare is always on hand.
