Learning at Work Week 2021

This week we’re celebrating Learning at Work Week – Created by the organisation Campaign for Learning, and this year’s theme is Made for Learning.

The concept of Made for Learning is broken down into 3 parts:

1 – Human = Learning 

2 – Human = Curiosity

3 – Human = Connection 

At Abicare we always encourage and support all our staff to further develop their skills and learning. In fact, a number of our staff who started off as carers are now in managerial and team leader positions. 

We pride ourselves in having a fully qualified training team who ensure that every member of staff receives the best level of training in the care industry, including specialised care, such as Dementia care, and the training we offer is free.

We are so proud of ALL our staff and we care about their personal development, which is why we are excited about the partnership we have with Relias Learning, who provide an online Learning Management System.

With an extensive library packed full of courses- from Computer Basics to Effective Care Planning to Mental Health Awareness, there is something for everyone! Our staff can learn in their own time and at their own pace, they can do as many courses as they like, and best of all they’re ALL FREE!

To help develop our staff, we also offer the following:

• Free carer training and care certificate.
• Shadowing schemes to help our new carers learn from experienced carers.
• Opportunities to upskill with ongoing training offers and funding for external courses.
• Continued support from the team and manager, from regular catch ups to chat groups with other carers nearby.

We are also in the process of ensuring that all our current and new managers, supervisors and office staff complete a series of Health and Safety courses over the next few weeks before returning to the offices in June. 

We believe that everyone who works in care should have the right to develop their learning, which is why we are so proud of the learning programmes we have in place, and, of course, that we have such a wonderful team of trainers!
