Creating Caring Communities…!
As well as providing Home Care and Live-in Care, Abicare have always been actively dedicated to Corporate Social Responsibility.
We are committed to ‘Creating Caring Communities,’ which is why we partake in a number of annual charity events such as Comic Relief, Macmillan Coffee Morning, Children in Need, and Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day. This is something that we have done for many years, but every year we also raise funds and awareness for a number of charities that are close to our heart.
In 2018 we took part in making twiddlemuffs for Dementia patients. We held competitions, knitting days and were even interviewed on the radio and local TV to raise awareness for the cause! We are incredibly proud to say that, across the entire company, we successfully created over 125 twiddlemuffs, which were donated to The Royal Gwent Hospital in Wales, and Salisbury Hospital in Wiltshire!
2021 Charities

Mind
In 2021 we are proud to be in our 3rd year of supporting Mind, the mental health charity. The past year has shown that now, more than ever, people are struggling with their mental health, and so we are pleased to still be able to support this essential charity.

Salisbury Hospice
It costs nearly 2.4m a year to run Salisbury Hospice, and whilst some of the funding comes from the Government, the Salisbury Hospice Charity aims to raise 1.5m a year to ensure vital services are maintained. The hospice was able to help almost 1,000 people in 2020, but would not have been able to do so without the funds raised by Salisbury Hospice Charity, funds which enable the hospice to continue to offer nursing and medical care, emotional and practical support, welfare advice, occupational and physiotherapy, complementary therapies, spiritual care and creative activities.
Previous National Charities
Dementia UK
Back in 2016 some members of the senior management team cycled 500 miles in 5 days, climbing a total of 22,500ft and managed to raise over £4,000 for Dementia UK.
The Trussell Trust
Each of our local offices (Basingstoke, Bradford on Avon, Swindon, Salisbury and Wales) had a collection point for non-perishable food items and toiletries, which they distributed to their local Trussell Trust food bank. In addition to this, some members of the senior management team also embarked upon the gruelling Mount Everest challenge in 2018, which involved cycling the equivalent height of Mount Everest, and they raised over £3,000.
Toilet Twinning
Through various bake and book sales, beach days and regular collections, in 2018 we raised £486.50, which was enough to twin EIGHT toilets in less fortunate countries abroad.

Previous Local Charities
The Stars Appeal
Every year we support this extremely important charity by taking part in the Bring a Pound to Work Day event. In addition to this, in 2020 we donated a whopping £650!
Wiltshire Air Ambulance
We signed up to the Terracycle scheme to assist in their bid to raise money for Wiltshire Air by recycling crisp packets, biscuit wrappers, dry pet food packaging, coffee pods and baby food pouches etc. Each local Abicare office (Basingstoke, Bradford on Avon, Swindon, Salisbury and Wales) had a receptacle and information about which wrappers could be donated. In 2020 it was simply not possible to continue to donate our goods for recycling, which is why we donated £650 to Wiltshire Air Ambulance instead!

As you can see, we are so proud of all that we have achieved so far in raising funds and awareness for a number of fantastic charities and local causes and we look forward to continuing to do so throughout 2021 and beyond!
